Luv Resval était un poète au style unique qui a rassemblé un demi-million de vues sur les réseaux sociaux lors d'un Freestyle sur Skyrock, avec un texte écrit 30 minutes avant son passage.
Il était connu non seulement pour sa plume mystique mais surtout pour ses looks atypiques et son approche mode haute couture, dont il était passionné.
Luv Resval was a poet with a unique style who garnered half a million views on social media during a Freestyle on Skyrock, with a text written just 30 minutes before his performance.
He was known not only for his mystical writing but especially for his unconventional looks and high-fashion approach, which he was passionate about.
Habillé par Marine Arnoul, créatrice de costume, styliste et fondatrice de Martian Agency, il s'est créé un style éclectique aux allures urbaines, techwear-futuristes, gothique-dark avec un penchant à la Billie Eilish, mélangeant des univers issus de la Pop culture tels que l'incontournable Saga Star Wars, les super-héros, Harry Potter, le tout teinté de l'univers graphique des Mangas. Tel un Samurai hybride des temps modernes, il a fait régner le mystère autour de sa personne tout en créant une communauté bienveillante grâce à sa générosité et sa gentillesse.
Dressed by Marine Arnoul, a costume designer, stylist, and founder of Martian Agency, he created an eclectic style with urban, techwear-futuristic, gothic-dark influences, with a hint of Billie Eilish. He blended elements from Pop culture such as the iconic Star Wars saga, superheroes, and Harry Potter, all tinged with the graphic world of Manga. Like a modern-day hybrid Samurai, he surrounded himself with mystery while building a supportive community through his generosity and kindness.
Sur des airs de science-fiction et à l'ambition intergalactique et hors du temps, Luv s’est imposé très vite comme une icône de sa génération : torturée, subissant son époque et consciente de ses problèmes, tout en étant enclin à rendre ce monde meilleur.
With a sci-fi vibe and an intergalactic, timeless ambition, Luv quickly established himself as an icon of his generation: tortured, suffering from his era, and aware of his problems, yet determined to make the world a better place.
Nous avons rassemblé 10 looks iconiques qui ont marqué l’ascension de Luv et sa styliste Marine y explique le procédé artistique au sein de chaque projet musical et vidéo de l’album Etoile Noire - qui fut disque d’Or quelques semaines après sa sortie. Pour tous les clips de Luv, l’objectif avec le réalisateur Alexinho Mougeolle était de proposer une vision plus cinématographique et ambitieuse au sein du rap et de ce fait, mélanger la création de costume suivant un storytelling à des looks très mode pour créer un visuel impactant.
We have gathered 10 iconic looks that marked Luv’s rise, and his stylist Marine explains the artistic process behind each music and video project from the album Etoile Noire – which went gold a few weeks after its release. For all of Luv’s music videos, the goal with director Alexinho Mougeolle was to offer a more cinematic and ambitious vision within rap, mixing costume design following a storytelling approach with very fashionable looks to create a striking visual.
1. LOOK BEIGE: KURT – Luv Resval ft. Zefor | Clip réalisé par Alexinho Mougeolle.
Avec ce total look beige, Marine a revisité les codes des patients d’hôpitaux psychiatriques avec les camisoles blanches que l’on pouvait voir sur les figurants du clip notamment : Les chaînes rattachées au cou de Luv représentent l’enchaînement et l’aliénation de la folie créative.
Dès le début, Luv s’est montré très intéressé par les parures de bijoux cloutés et les chaînes pour signer ses looks.
With this total beige look, Marine reinterpreted the codes of psychiatric hospital patients with the white straitjackets that could be seen on the extras in the music video, particularly: The chains attached to Luv’s neck represent the binding and alienation of creative madness. From the very beginning, Luv showed a strong interest in studded jewelry and chains to signature his looks.
2. LOOK MUTANT: TOUT S’EN VA | Clip réalisé par Alexinho Mougeolle.
Pour ce visuel de science-fiction avec un décor de laboratoire et la fameuse cuve où Luv Resval est endormi artificiellement, Marine a dessiné une armure à même la peau, reliée par des tuyaux, qui alimentent le chanteur comme des cordons ombilicaux technologiques.
Pour le maquillage, on y retrouve des scarifications tribales inspirées du film Black Panther, avec un motif plus reptilien pour donner un aspect « mutant » à Luv. Le message est clair : L’univers de Luv n’est pas comme les autres et c’est ce qui fait sa force.
For this sci-fi visual with a laboratory setting and the famous tank where Luv Resval is artificially asleep, Marine designed an armor directly on the skin, connected by tubes that feed the singer like technological umbilical cords.
For the makeup, tribal scarifications inspired by the movie Black Panther are featured, with a more reptilian pattern to give Luv a "mutant" appearance. The message is clear: Luv's universe is unlike any other, and that's what makes it powerful.
3. LOOK PRINCE NOIR : CELEBRATION ft. ALKPOTE | Clip réalisé par Alexinho Mougeolle.
Pour la création de ce costume, l’idée était de faire un mélange entre l’univers Fantastique de Game of Thrones pour le côté chevaleresque, mais placé dans un décor très post-apocalyptique.
Luv souhaitait incarner un Prince Justicier, avec une grande cape noire. Toutes les armures en cuir sont des chutes qui ont été sourcées à la recyclerie de la Réserve des Arts et les fourrures sont toutes des fausses – Marine souhaitait intégrer une démarche éco-responsable d’upcycling pour les matériaux employés. Tous les bijoux et accessoires ont été modélisés en 3D puis imprimés, et peints à la main. Les costumes ont été patinés pour leur donner du vécu et une histoire.
For the creation of this costume, the idea was to blend the fantastical world of Game of Thrones for the chivalrous aspect, but placed in a very post-apocalyptic setting.
Luv wanted to embody a Just Prince, with a large black cape. All the leather armors are made from scrap materials sourced from the recycling center of the Réserve des Arts, and the furs are all faux – Marine wanted to integrate an eco-responsible upcycling approach for the materials used. All the jewelry and accessories were 3D modeled, then printed and hand-painted. The costumes were weathered to give them a sense of history and experience.
4. LOOK DE L’ETOILE NOIRE : COUVERTURE DE L’ALBUM // ALBUM COVER BY FIFOU
Pour la couverture de l’album, Luv souhaitait porter un masque abîmé d’un côté pour dévoiler son visage, ainsi qu’un long manteau. La forme du masque revisite celle des Siths de Star Wars pour faire appel au côté obscur de la force dont Luv était grandement inspiré dans ses chansons. Les dégâts du masque font référence à un combat au sabre laser. Avec une touche unique à la Luv dans les codes couleurs et les animations de rouge métallisés, Marine a créé une veste couture avec des découpes graphiques et signé le look avec des bijoux de la marque Vitaly. Luv porte même une chest box personnalisée sur la poitrine pour faire référence à Dark Vador.
For the album cover, Luv wanted to wear a damaged mask on one side to reveal his face, along with a long coat. The shape of the mask is a reinterpretation of the Sith masks from Star Wars, referencing the dark side of the Force that heavily inspired Luv in his songs. The damage to the mask symbolizes a lightsaber battle. With a unique Luv twist in the color codes and metallic red animations, Marine created a couture jacket with graphic cuts and completed the look with jewelry from the brand Vitaly. Luv even wears a custom chest box on his chest as a nod to Darth Vader.
5. LOOK CREATEUR : MPC PART II (look en collaboration avec Martian Agency)
Luv Resval aimait beaucoup porter les créations de Martian Agency, la marque de sa styliste. À ses yeux, le style des collections était épique et lui donnait des allures de héro de Manga. Ce Trench noir a été porté plusieurs fois par Luv sur des shoot presse ou des clips. Les épaules en pointe lui donnaient un look très futuriste aux allures gothiques grâce aux matériaux brillants et techniques du manteau.
Luv Resval was very fond of wearing creations from Martian Agency, his stylist's brand. In his eyes, the style of the collections was epic and gave him the appearance of a Manga hero. This black trench coat was worn several times by Luv for press shoots or music videos. The pointed shoulders gave him a very futuristic, gothic look thanks to the shiny, technical materials of the coat.
6. LOOK NINJA CYBORG : TOUT S’EN VA | Clip réalisé par Alexinho Mougeolle.
Toujours dans l’inspiration science-fiction du clip, Marine a créé un look à l’image de Luv, qui se veut aventurier dans le choix des vêtements (doudoune sans manches, pantalon cargo), et poète dans l’esprit, tout en étant empreint de détails cyborg avec un bras en armure pour ancrer Luv dans un décor mystérieux et magique. Son armure le protège contre ses démons, qu’il cherche à affronter dans sa musique, tel un ninja moderne, discret et humble, toujours prêt au combat.
Still drawing from the sci-fi inspiration of the music video, Marine created a look that reflects Luv’s adventurous spirit in his clothing choices (a sleeveless down jacket, cargo pants), while maintaining a poetic essence. The outfit also features cyborg details, such as an armored arm, to ground Luv in a mysterious and magical setting. His armor symbolizes protection against his inner demons, which he seeks to confront through his music. Like a modern ninja, discreet and humble, he is always ready for battle.
7. LOOK HAUTE COUTURE : CETTE FILLE (look Lanvin) Dir. by Alexinho Mougeolle.
Ce clip est inspiré de l’univers festif et démesuré de Gatsby Le Magnifique, et pour l’occasion, la marque Lanvin avait prêté à Luv un ensemble tailleur de leur collection Haute Couture, dont une chemise avec un nœud entièrement brodé à la main de perles brillantes. Un ensemble très chic, hors du temps, pour habiller un personnage amoureux et rêveur qu’a incarné Luv à la perfection.
This music video is inspired by the extravagant and festive world of The Great Gatsby, and for the occasion, the brand Lanvin lent Luv a tailored suit from their Haute Couture collection, including a shirt with a bow entirely hand-embroidered with shimmering pearls. A very chic, timeless ensemble to dress a character who is both in love and dreamy, a role Luv embodied perfectly.
8. LOOK FLAMME: MPC Part II & Bouska P
De nombreuses marques ont collaborées avec Luv Resval, notamment BAPE, chez qui la styliste Marine allait régulièrement faire des looks. On se souvient des ensemble iconiques Flammes, avec une version bleue et une version rouge. Luv affectionnait particulièrement cette marque pour leur univers streetwear, pop et très coloré. Un motif flamme qui illustre un artiste inspiré, au sommet de son art, au côté mystérieux, un peu ténébreux aussi mais qui rayonnera toujours, tel un Phoenix.
Many brands collaborated with Luv Resval, including BAPE, where stylist Marine frequently created looks. Iconic flame-themed outfits come to mind, with both a blue and a red version. Luv was particularly fond of this brand for its streetwear, pop, and vibrant universe. The flame motif symbolizes an inspired artist, at the peak of his craft, with a mysterious and slightly dark side, yet one that will always shine, like a Phoenix.
9. LOOK FASHION WEEK : DEFILE LANVIN / FASHION SHOW
Quelle belle surprise de découvrir Luv au défilé de la grande maison de couture Lanvin pour leur collection FW21 en collaboration avec DC COMICS (motif Batman sur la chemise), qui fait très bien écho à l’univers de Luv. Une nouvelle étape pour l’artiste qui a mis tout le monde d’accord.
What a pleasant surprise to see Luv at the Lanvin fashion show for their FW21 collection in collaboration with DC COMICS (featuring a Batman motif on the shirt), which perfectly echoes Luv’s universe. A new milestone for the artist, one that left everyone in awe.
10. LOOK EGERIE : CAMPAGNE DE PUB LANVIN / AD CAMPAIGN
Et Luv ne s’est pas arrêté là en devenant l’égérie de leur nouvelle campagne, diffusée notamment dans le tout Paris. Une allure inimitable de superstar aux talents multiples, avec un style hors du commun qui a nourri son univers créatif et son goût pour la mode.
