Astraeria | The Goddess of Air
Astraeria is a Goddess of Martian mythology - An original mythos created by Marine Arnoul for her latest collection, "HESPERIAN GODS". Astraeria is the creator of life on Mars. Through the strength and sensuality that she embodies, her ethereal allure is an ode to femininity. Combining soft, vaporous textures and aerated crystallized volumes, Marine Arnoul explores the notion of duality in order to represent her vision of femininity.
The designer worked with opposing materials, taking on a real technical challenge: merging a raw and voluminous weave with a close-fitting, delicate mesh. The use of technological tools such as 3D printing pens allowed Marine to weave and form lightweight, rigid volumes using round and fluid gestures. Playing with transparency and layers, this armor conceals areas of the body while revealing others. Its porous and rough texture catches the fine mesh of the leotard leaving visible scars.
For Marine Arnoul, what makes each woman unique is the complexity of her armor, her ability to reveal her true nature and her resistance to lifes challenges.
You can see this creation exhibited at the museum of Bourgoin-Jallieu, near Lyon (France), from the 19th of september 2020 to the 14th of march 2021.

Astraeria s’inscrit dans la lignée des divinités d’une mythologie martienne que Marine Arnoul a entièrement imaginée pour sa dernière collection, « HESPERIAN GODS ». Astraeria est source et créatrice de la vie sur Mars. Par la force et la sensualité qu’elle incarne, son allure éthérée se veut une ode à la féminité. Associant textures vaporeuses souples et volumes aérés cristallisés, Marine Arnoul explore la notion de dualité afin de représenter sa vision de la féminité.
La créatrice a travaillé avec des matières qui s’opposent, relevant ainsi un vrai défi technique : une armure volumineuse à l’aspect brut, associée à une maille près du corps, fine et délicate.
L’utilisation d’outils technologiques comme le stylo 3D a permis à Marine de tisser et de former des volumes rigides légers, tout en gardant rondeur et fluidité dans le geste.
En des jeux de transparences et de superpositions, cette armure cache le corps et le dévoile par endroits, sa texture poreuse et rêche accroche la maille fine du justaucorps en y laissant des marques visibles, telles des cicatrices.
Pour Marine Arnoul, ce qui rend chaque femme unique est la complexité de son armure, sa capacité à laisser entrevoir sa vraie nature et sa résistance face aux épreuves.
